2024 Annual Report Preview
TMAF raised an estimated $1,081,184 in 2024, exceeding its fundraising goal by 17%. The Board approved $862,053 in grants to 38 programs, an increase of nearly 2 percent from the $848,340 granted for 45 programs in 2023. This means that for every $1 TMA provides in support of TMAF, the foundation and donors provide TMA more than a six-fold benefit in community health improvement and positive physician image.
These programs are the following TMA programs funded in 2024:
- Vaccines Defend What Matters
- Ernest and Sarah Butler Awards for Excellence in Science Teaching
- Hard Hats for Little Heads
- Diversity in Medicine Scholarships
- Walk with a Doc Texas
- Texas BookShare
- Louis J. Goodman Leadership in Medicine Lectureship (at TexMed)
The foundation funded 42 scholarships (up by four) totaling $368.450. Thirty (up by five) of the 42 are $10,000 each for Texas medical students and to alliance chapter nursing scholarships. The remaining 12 are mostly matching scholarships that range from $1,400 to $5,000 and are awarded to county medical societies and alliance chapters that have their own medical student scholarship program.
