Medical Community and Medical Student Community Leadership Grants

Applications for the 2018 program have closed!

2019 Community Grant Deadlines

  • The 2019-2020 Community Grants will open for applications in April 2019.
  • LOI's must be submitted by July 15, 2019 and applications completed by July 31, 2019 to be considered for grant funding on Sept. 13, 2019.
  • LOI's must be submitted by Nov. 15, 2019 and applications completed by Nov. 30, 2019 to be considered for grant funding on Jan. 24, 2020.

Submitting and application is a two-step process. Before an application can be started, each applicant must submit a "Letter of Interest" (LOI) to confirm eligibility for this program.  This LOI is due 15 days prior to the Grant Submission Deadline.

About the Program. Each year TMAF accepts applications from county medical societies, alliance and medical student chapters for community health improvement programs. Society and alliance chapters may apply for up to $7,500 in matching funds from the TMAF Medical Community Grant Program and medical student chapters may apply for up to $3,000 in matching funds from the TMAF Medical Student Community Leadership Grants Program.

About the Award. The Champion of Health Award focuses on exceptional projects that address urgent threats to the public’s health, address TMA science and public health priorities, and further TMAF’s mission: to help physicians create a healthier future for all Texans. Established in 1995, the award has recognized local and statewide programs ranging from access to health care, cancer prevention, childhood obesity, and more. The top winner receives a $5,000 award to be used towards the winning program. TMA Foundation may also recognize a secondary winner with a $2,500 grant.
