At the heart of TMA's agenda for the 2027 Texas legislative session is protecting the practice of medicine and the patient-physician relationship.

2027 Legislative Priorities

1. Reinforcing scope of practice and patient safety;
2. Protecting medical liability reforms;
3. Promoting practice viability and reducing physicians’ administrative burdens;
4. Supporting Texas’ physician workforce, graduate medical education, and rural health care;
5. Improving Medicaid payment rates and coverage;
6. Fighting for immunization protections;
7. Advocating for a competitive, fair health insurance system that is affordable and available to patients;
8. Calling for artificial intelligence (AI) regulations in health care;
9. Bolstering women’s health; and
10. Passing legislation that strengthens mental and behavioral health care in Texas.
