  • Funding the Future

    Pon Satitpunwaycha, MD, strongly believes in the vision of the foundation’s General Endowment. This fund supports programs that change the lives of Texans as well as essential functions such as fundraising, program monitoring and financial stewardship that are the hallmark of well-run not-for-profits. Dr. Satitpunwaycha is a major donor to the 2016 million-dollar plus campaign that expanded this endowment. Earlier this year he made a significant additional gift of $100,000.

  • Don’t Be Late for a Very Important Date!

    The date is May 3, 2024 and we hope to see you at TMAF’s 31st annual gala during TMA’s TexMed in Dallas! Leading this fundraiser are co-chairs Drs. Donna Casey, MD, MPH and Gary Weinstein; Drs. Roger Khetan and Thomas Heil; and Drs. Rainer and Anita Khetan, all of Dallas.

    The theme is Wonderland, which will feature designs and décor inspired by Lewis Carroll’s classic story Alice in Wonderland. Attire will be tea party or business casual. Your ticket purchase or table sponsorship supports TMAF-funded initiatives that amplify TMA’s vision: to improve the health of ALL Texans.

    The top sponsor is H-E-B joined by 19 others to date. H-E-B also annually supports TMA’s Vaccines Defend What Matters and Diversity in Medicine Scholarships (formerly Minority Scholarship Program).

    Institution and company gala table sponsorships now are  available from $3,500 to $50,000. Individuals may sponsor a table starting at $2,750. Go to www.texmed.org/gala or contact TMAF at (800) 880-1330, ext. 1664 with questions or to learn more.

  • More than 30 Grants Improve the Health of ALL Texans

     

    From suicide prevention screening to first aid training for elementary school children, grants approved by the TMAF Board in 2023 are impacting Texans in dozens of communities. Included in these grants are  29 medical student scholarships and eight nursing student scholarships. Learn more about how TMA and TMA Alliance members along with community collaborators are finding local solutions to the most pressing health problems facing Texans in their towns and cities.   • Who’s Your Champion?

    Nominate a Texas program that promotes healthy lives and healthy communities to the TMA Foundation John P. McGovern Champion of Health Award. Winners receive cash awards for their winning program. The Champion of Health Award focuses on exceptional projects that address urgent threats to the public’s health and that further TMAF’s mission: to help physicians create a healthier future for all Texans. Nominations are due Feb. 15, 2024.

  • Giving Back Through Scholarships

    The future of medicine received a boost with more than $14,000 in donations to a TMAF endowment that supports medical student scholarships. It was established in 2021 by Dr. Mahendra Patel and his wife Dr. Shakuntula Patel, Irving. TMAF Board members recently thanked family and friends of the Patel’s who joined in contributing to build the future of medicine.

    “I am proud to establish an endowment at the TMA Foundation that not only supports the education of medical students in need but supports those students who aspire to care for Texans with the greatest health needs. I have felt great satisfaction from helping others. I know this from my medical practice and the health clinic volunteering I currently do as a retired physician.”

  • Holiday Tributes

    Honor your friends, colleagues, and family members by making a charitable donation in their name. One gift is a great way to check two items off your holiday list. You’ll support your favorite TMA outreach program, and when you donate in someone’s name, the foundation will send your honoree a holiday card announcing your gift.

  • Gala 2023: Another Record!

Sealy Massingill MD, and Melanie Lagomichos, DO and Thomas Vanelli, all of Fort Worth.

    Joining in person to see friends and colleagues and raise funds for TMAF’s mission resulted in another record-breaking gala on May 19 in Fort Worth.

    More than 580 guests attended thanks to a record 65 sponsors at the Omni Fort Worth during TMA’s TexMed. The gala, featuring silent and live auctions, raised $465,316 for the outstanding TMA and family of medicine programs that the foundation makes possible. Sincere thanks go to co-chairs, G. Sealy Massingill, MD, and his wife, Debbie, and Melanie Lagomichos, DO and husband Russell Thomas Vanelli, all of Fort Worth, as well as alliance and medical student members volunteers.
