Denton obstetrician-gynecologist Joseph S. Valenti, MD, began serving as vice chair of the TMA Board of Trustees in May 2023. He has served multiple terms on the association’s governing body after his reelection to the board in 2021.

“We are [our patients’] stewards, and they are our partners, and we can succeed only if we are kept always vigilant of that fact,” he said upon reelection in 2021.

“Required of us is leadership, dedication, honesty, and an unwavering belief that we can never give up the ability to do what is in the patient’s and the physician’s best interest.”

Dr. Valenti served in several TMA leadership positions across his 25 years of membership, prior to joining the board. He has chaired three TMA bodies – the Council on Socioeconomics, the Council on Constitution and Bylaws, and the Committee on Maternal and Perinatal Health. In his earlier membership days, he represented the Medical Student, Resident and Fellow, and Young Physician sections as a delegate in TMA’s House of Delegates policymaking body.

Outside of TMA, Dr. Valenti served on the American Medical Association Resident and Fellow Section Governing Council, and as president of the Denton County Medical Society. He continues to serve in the TMA house, and on the boards of the Texas Medical Liability Trust and The Physicians Foundation.

Dr. Valenti founded the Caring for Women medical practice in Denton, where he has served patients for more than two decades. He also was chief of staff of North Texas Hospital, a physician-owned facility.
