Use EHR to Improve Patients’ Vaccination Rates

If you are working to improve the vaccination rates among your patients, don’t underrate your electronic health record (EHR) as a tool. has some practical suggestions for how you can use your EHR to track immunization rates and reach your patients who need specific vaccines by generating:  

  • Patient lists; 
  • Query-based reports; 
  • Benchmark comparisons; 
  • Reminders and order sets for vaccines;
  • Follow-up appointments for next in series; and
  • Patient education materials.
