Subject: Bylaws Amendment Required for Board of Trustees Report 16-A-07

In Board of Trustees Report 16-A-07 in this handbook, the board is recommending a modest dues increase for 2007, and incremental increases each year until 2012. Dues increases must be approved by the House of Delegates. TMA Bylaws state the actual dues amount in dollars for active members.
Should the House of Delegates approve the board's proposal, the Council on Constitution and Bylaws recommends a bylaws amendment to eliminate citing the amount of dues and substitute language to avoid bylaws amendments that would be required each year for the next five years. The substitute language assures that any dues increase for active members requires House of Delegates approval.
Recommendation: Amend Chapter 14, Membership Dues and Special Assessment, Section 14.40, Annual dues amounts, as follows :
14.40, Annual dues amounts
14.401 Active . Annual dues shall be $435 as established by the House of Delegates .
