TEXASMEDICAL ASSOCIATION HOUSE OF DELEGATES

Resolution 101 (A-07)
Subject: Use of Term "Managed Care"
Introduced by: William W. Hinchey, MD

Whereas, The Texas Medical Association recognizes that the term "managed care" is a misleading term that does not describe the relationship between a physician and his or her patient; and

Whereas, Physicians are trained at medical schools; insurance companies are not; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Texas Medical Association refrain whenever possible from using the term "managed care" in all communications with members, the public, and the media.
