The Texas Medical Board (TMB) is helping physicians understand a new online CME tracking requirement going into effect on Sept. 1 through a series of webinars as well as online information.
Texas physicians seeking license renewals must log all CME through the new CE Broker online platform following legislation passed in 2025. The Texas Medical Association continues communicating physician concerns, primarily received through TMA’s Knowledge Center, to TMB and CE Broker’s parent company, Propelus.
TMB and Propelus hosted a May 13 webinar for 1,000 registrants, the maximum allowed, and are staging three additional webinars to meet anticipated demand.
They will team up on an another webinar for physicians July 22, with events for allied professionals (such as physician assistants) planned for June 24 and Aug. 19. As of this writing, registration is not yet open for the upcoming webinars on TMB’s Continuing Education Tracking page – where registration links and updates, including a newly added Physician CME Hours Requirement Chart, are housed.
A recording of the May 13 webinar is accessible through physicians’ MyTMB accounts. TMB plans to also post the webinar on its YouTube channel, where it recently posted two educational videos on CE Broker:
- A five-minute demonstration showing how to create a CE Broker account, review the credentials overview page (which includes deadlines), and check which CME requirements have been met versus what’s still pending.
- A four-minute tutorial on how to self-report CME within CE Broker.
In addition, TMB licensees now have access to complimentary phone support with CE Broker. TMB emphasizes that while it can field questions physicians have about their license status or state CME requirements, questions about tracking and reporting CME on CE Broker are best directed to the CE Broker team.
CE Broker provides live support on weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm CT through email or chat in its Help Center, or by calling (877) 434-6323 and selecting option one, then option three. Common topics physicians should direct to CE Broker, rather than TMB, include:
- Account access;
- Technical issues, including transcript errors, incorrectly listed CME requirements, and issues with self-reported or education institution-reported CME;
- Locating approved courses;
- Questions about subscriptions; and
- Self-reporting guidance.
TMA continues to field physicians’ questions about the implementation of the new state mandate and adds information to its FAQ article as it learns more in its ongoing conversations with TMB and Propelus – including any new concerns that physicians bring to TMA’s attention.
