Automated CME Reporting to CE Broker Begins July 31

To help reduce administrative burden for physicians, the Texas Medical Association will automatically report physician continuing medical education credits earned through TMA CME activities directly to CE Broker.

Beginning July 31, 2026, the association will report completed TMA CME activities to CE Broker daily at no cost for physicians regardless of TMA membership status.

The new service was developed in response to feedback from physicians who asked TMA to help make the new state-mandated CME reporting requirement easier. That requirement begins Sept. 1, 2026.

“Since the tracking requirement was announced, TMA has been in close contact with the Texas Medical Board and CE Broker to make the process as smooth as possible for physicians,” said TMA President Bradford W. Holland, MD.

TMA will also provide a one-time historical report to CE Broker of TMA CME activities completed from Sept. 1, 2024, through July 31, 2026. This timeframe is intended to help capture TMA CME activities that may apply to the first renewal cycle under the new CE Broker reporting requirement.

Physicians who completed a Texas-mandated CME course through TMA before Sept. 1, 2024, may need to self-report that activity in CE Broker if it applies to their current renewal requirements.

For convenience, physicians can visit TMA’s Education Services webpage to review current Texas CME requirements. From the Texas Licensure Resources section in the side navigation, physicians can access their TMA CME transcript and the association’s Education Center, where they can view or print CME certificates for completed courses.

Physicians should continue to review their CE Broker account before renewal to confirm their CME activity history is accurate and complete. If repeated entries appear, physicians may need to remove any duplicate self-reported entries from their account.

TMA recognizes that some physicians may have already self-reported TMA CME credit to CE Broker. If you have already reported TMA CME activities completed between Sept. 1, 2024, and July 31, 2026, you may opt out of the association’s one-time historical reporting upload to help avoid duplicate CME entries in your CE Broker account.

If you have already self-reported your TMA CME activities in CE Broker and would like to opt out of TMA’s one-time historical reporting, please complete the opt-out form with your name and medical license number. This opt-out applies only to TMA’s one-time historical reporting upload. The association will continue to report future completed TMA CME activities to CE Broker after automated reporting begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have not created my CE Broker account yet?

TMA can report completed TMA CME activities to CE Broker even if you have not yet created your CE Broker account. When TMA submits credits via the CE Broker Portal, the system automatically creates a pending profile for the physician. Physicians are encouraged to create a free basic CE Broker account so they can review their reported CME activity history and confirm their records are complete before renewal. Create or access your CE Broker account online.

What if I have already self-reported a TMA CME activity in CE Broker?

If you have already self-reported a TMA CME activity and TMA later reports the same activity, a duplicate may appear in your CE Broker account.

Physicians should review their CE Broker account and remove any duplicate self-reported entries if needed. CE Broker provides instructions for editing or deleting self-reported courses online.

How often will TMA report physicians’ TMA CME credits to CE Broker?

Beginning July 31, 2026, TMA will report physicians’ completed TMA CME credits to CE Broker daily. Because TMA offers enduring material that may be completed at any time, daily reporting will help ensure new completions are submitted on an ongoing basis. If you complete a TMA CME activity and do not see it listed right away, please check again the next day.

Physicians should not wait until the day of a license renewal or CME deadline to complete required CME. If you are approaching a deadline and a completed TMA CME activity has not yet appeared in your CE Broker account, consider self-reporting the activity and retaining your completion documentation. If TMA subsequently reports the same completion, you may need to remove the duplicate entry from your account.

Will TMA report CME activities completed through other organizations?

No. TMA will report only CME activities provided by TMA. Physicians are responsible for ensuring that any CME completed through other organizations is reported to CE Broker, either by the accredited provider or through the physician’s CE Broker account.

Will TMA report past CME activities?

Yes. The association will complete a one-time historical report of TMA CME activity completions dating back to Sept. 1, 2024. Physicians who completed a Texas-mandated CME course through TMA before Sept. 1, 2024, may need to self-report that activity in CE Broker if it applies to their current renewal requirements.

Do I have to be a TMA member for TMA to report my CME credit to CE Broker?

No. The association will report completed TMA CME activities to CE Broker for all physicians who complete TMA CME activities, regardless of membership status.

Can I opt out of the one-time historical reporting upload?

Yes. If you have already reported TMA CME activities completed between Sept. 1, 2024, and July 31, 2026, you may opt out of TMA’s one-time historical reporting upload to help avoid duplicate CME entries in your CE Broker account.

To opt out of the one-time historical reporting upload, please complete the opt-out form with your name and medical license number.
