The Texas Medical Association Foundation is pleased to announce two new scholarship funds established by Houston pathologist Roberto J. Bayardo, MD, in memory of his wife, Agniela (Annie).

Dr. Bayardo’s generous gifts enable county medical societies that have medical student scholarship programs to apply to the foundation for one matching scholarship from each fund.

The TMAF Medical Student Scholarship and Grant Trust Fund of Dr. Roberto J. and Agniela (Annie) M. Bayardo, and the TMAF Hispanic Medical Student Scholarship Fund are part of TMAF’s Family of Funds program.

The program houses funds and endowments that support the charitable health improvement and education goals of TMA and TMA Alliance members as well as related efforts of county medical societies and TMA alliance and medical student chapters.

Dr. Bayardo’s first Family of Funds trust was established in 2017 to provide scholarships for Hispanic nursing students. It is administered through the nursing scholarship programs of the Harris County Medical Society Alliance Philanthropic Fund and the Travis County Medical Society Alliance Foundation.

County medical societies must submit their applications no later than April 30, and applicants will be notified of the TMAF Board of Trustees’ decision the week of May 20.
