Today TEXPAC, the political arm of the Texas Medical Association, partnered with Speaker Dade Phelan to support the reelection of Rep. Steve Allison (R-San Antonio) for state representative in House District 121.

TEXPAC is contributing $25,000 to Representative Allison’s campaign, and Speaker Phelan is matching TEXPAC’s contribution for a combined total of $50,000.

"I am proud to partner with TEXPAC to support Steve Allison in his reelection to House District 121," said Speaker Dade Phelan. "As an attorney, as a legislator, and through civic engagement, Steve has a strong record of championing health care efforts that impact the medical industry. His experience adds tremendous value to the Public Health Committee in the Texas House, of which he is a member. It is imperative that he returns to the Texas House to continue the work for all Texans."

"Rep. Steve Allison has been a fierce advocate for medicine and for physicians across Texas," said TEXPAC Chair Jimmy Widmer, MD. "Representative Allison is a true statesman, and he embodies what a champion of medicine is in the legislature. He fights for physicians to be able to care for their patients to ensure they receive the best access to care. Representative Allison’s commitment to the physicians in House District 121 is inspiring, and TEXPAC is honored to support him in his reelection to the Texas House."

TEXPAC is the Texas Medical Association’s bipartisan political arm, helping to elect medicine-friendly candidates at the local, state, and federal level. Created in 1962, TEXPAC is one of the oldest political action committees in Texas. TEXPAC works to advance TMA’s mission of improving the health of all Texans and enables TMA members to protect Texas patients through political education and activism.
