TEXPAC, Speaker Phelan Announce Support for Representative Smith for HD 62

TEXPAC, the political arm of the Texas Medical Association, and Texas Speaker Dade Phelan today announced their support of state Rep. Reggie Smith (R-Sherman) for reelection to state House District 62. 

TEXPAC is contributing $25,000 to Representative Smith’s campaign, and Speaker Phelan is matching TEXPAC’s contribution for a combined total of $50,000.

“Reggie Smith embodies the values of hard work, responsibility, and dedication, all of which are evident through his efforts in the Texas House of Representatives,” said Speaker Phelan. “Reggie is a fierce advocate and a strong voice for rural Texas and the people of House District 62. As a member of the Public Health Committee, he has worked to strengthen health care for all Texans and to support medical professionals. I am proud to partner with TEXPAC to support Reggie for reelection to the Texas House.”

TEXPAC is the Texas Medical Association’s bipartisan political arm, helping to elect medicine-friendly candidates at the local, state, and federal level. Created in 1962, TEXPAC is one of the oldest political action committees in Texas. TEXPAC works to advance TMA’s mission of improving the health of all Texans and enables TMA members to protect Texas patients through political education and activism.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 56,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA’s key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
