Despite hurdles posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 has been one of the most productive years for the UT Southwestern Medical School TMA-MSS chapter. Recent outreach and advocacy efforts include:
- Spreading awareness of the importance of bike safety among children living in our surrounding communities. This effort is made possible by generous physicians who have donated to TMA’s Hard Hats for Little Heads program.
- Partnering with TMA Foundation to support of ongoing initiatives in public health, including a patient navigator program for hospitalized patients, and a tutoring program for local middle school students.
- Promoting TMA involvement among first-year medical students via increased social events and enrichment opportunities.
COVID-19 has done little to stray the chapter from its goal to echo TMA’s mission and encourage medical students to help develop solutions for health care issues.
