By now, you’re probably aware of surprise billing legislation that became law this year.

But if you want to learn even more about the new law, or if you want to find out what’s new with the Lone Star Caucus – which represents your county in the Texas Medical Association’s House of Delegates – tune in to a 30-minute virtual meeting scheduled for noon on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Kelly Walla, TMA associate vice president and deputy general counsel, will give a brief overview of Texas’ new surprise billing legislation – Senate Bill 1264 – which applies to certain out-of-network services provided on or after Jan. 1, 2020.

McAllen internist Lenore DePagter, DO, will give an update on the Lone Star Caucus, and Sylvia Salazar, TMA associate vice president of membership and leadership development, will discuss what’s new with your membership.

To tune in, visit the virtual meeting webpage at noon on Nov. 12.

Have a question or suggestion for a future virtual meeting topic? Send it to TMA via email.
