If you want to support the Texas Medical Association’s Hard Hats for Little Heads program, you’ll have a big helmet to fill at the TMA Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Gala in May.

For the seventh straight year, an anonymous couple has donated $10,500 and is challenging gala patrons to match at least that amount during the event’s Make-A-Difference fundraising drive. All monies will benefit the Hard Hats program.

At last year’s gala, 28 donors contributed $14,150, which, added to the match, resulted in $24,650 raised for the program.

Hard Hats for Little Heads encourages exercise and fitness in kids while helping prevent life-altering or fatal brain injuries. Since its inception in 1994, TMA and Texas physicians have distributed more than 300,000 free helmets to children in need across Texas.

Matching the donation again at this year’s gala will provide the program with enough funds in 2019 to:

  • Protect at least 4,626 little heads with a new bike helmet;
  • Teach more at-risk children how to fit and wear a helmet properly when riding a bike, scooter, or skateboard; and
  • Reach more little Texans, including those in YOUR community.

The gala is scheduled for 6:30 to 10:30 pm Friday, May 18, at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa as part of TexMed 2018.

More than 600 friends of medicine support TMA’s charitable programs while enjoying a cocktail reception, seated dinner, Sip & Sparkle wine pull, Kendra Scott mystery boxes, silent and live auctions, Make-A-Difference, and dancing and live music by the Matchmaker Band.

Top sponsors include H-E-B, Pfizer and Texas Medical Liability Trust.

Individual tickets are $220. VIP tickets are $270. Dress is cocktail attire. Ticket prices increase on May 1, so buy yours today.
