Immunization Rates in Texas: The Texas Medical Association supports the following recommendations to increase Texas’ immunization rates and to ultimately improve the health of all Texans: (1) improve the state’s current immunization tracking system; (2) improve immunization education efforts for providers and patients; (3) address public and private vaccine financing issues; (4) increase physician education and participation in the Vaccines for Children program and the Adult Safety Net program; (5) improve vaccine distribution under the Vaccines for Children program and the Adult Safety Net program; (6) address vaccine supply shortages; and (7) support studies on vaccine delivery initiatives to increase immunization rates (CPH Rep. 1-I-02; amended CM-ID Rep. 1-A-12).
