Walk with a Doc combines walking and conversation to promote a healthier lifestyle in people of all ages. David Sabgir, MD, a board-certified cardiologist in Columbus, Ohio, started Walk with a Doc in 2005. TMA is now part of this worldwide movement. Walk with a Doc Texas has a proven track record of helping people commit to a healthy lifestyle through monthly, physician- and medical student-led walks throughout Texas.
If you’re ready to walk the healthy talk, getting started is easy. Start-up fees are free to TMA members (a $2,300 value). If you’re a TMA member, simply click on the link below to get started. If you’re not already a TMA member, join today and then click on the link to start your walk.
Students at any of Texas’ medical schools are invited – and encouraged – to start a walk in their community. Walk with a Future Doc is going strong at nearly half of Texas’ 15 schools, and TMA invites you to lace up your shoes and take to the local paths with members of your community.
If you’re not ready to become a walk leader but want to be involved, here are some opportunities:
Walk With a Doc is a nonprofit – founded in 2005 by Ohio cardiologist David Sabgir, MD – that encourages physical activity in people of all ages and that aims to reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle. And it has proven to come with so many benefits to physicians themselves and to the patient-physician relationship.
