Use This Permission Letter to Excuse COVID-19 Patients from Work or School

If you treat patients who are suspected of exposure to COVID-19, the Texas Medical Association COVID-19 Task Force has created a draft letter you can use to excuse the patient from work or school for 14 days.

The letter can be edited and modified to fit the physician’s or patient’s specific situation.

Health officials urge people who have been exposed to COVID-19 to self-quarantine for 14 days in order to minimize further spread of the coronavirus. Symptoms can include fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath.

The letter can be found on TMA’s COVID-19 Resource Center, which also contains the latest news, resources, and government guidance on the coronavirus pandemic.
