Arriving at TexMed used to mean waiting in line, but the conference’s returning badging system turns event check-in into a breeze with one quick scan – and makes CME and navigation easier, too.
The Texas Medical Association’s Board of Trustees approved the new badging system in 2024 after members expressed a desire for an expedited experience before the conference. Since then, the new identification system has been used at TexMed 2025 and last year’s Business of Medicine Conference, and this year promises to keep that momentum going.
Preregistered attendees will receive a QR code via email the Tuesday before the conference. At TexMed’s quick-scan kiosk, members can utilize that code included in their TexMed registration confirmation to print their name tag at the self-service station before heading into the House of Delegates’ opening session.
The IDs feature another QR code for TexMed’s digital program on the back, so guests never miss a CME presentation, business meeting, or social event. The badge will allow TMA to record CME credit on behalf of physicians – an important tool that takes pressure off attendees while providing feedback to TMA staff to improve future TexMed events. To ensure accurate credit, members must:
- Wear the conference badge during all conference events;
- Have the badge scanned at entry before each CME session; and
- Re-scan before each session begins if attending multiple sessions in the same room.
If an attendee is unsure if their badge has been scanned, they can rescan at any time.
This year, nametags can also facilitate communication with TexMed exhibitors within the event’s Expo Hall. When exhibitors scan a badge, they automatically receive the physician’s contact information, much like a digital business card – giving attendees the choice to continue contact with exhibitors after the conference concludes.
Early TexMed registration for TMA members, county medical society and association staff, and alliance members is free – one of the many benefits of annual membership. Online registration closes Monday, April 13, and on-site registration will be available for a $25 fee. Register today.
