What CME does the Texas Medical Association offer? How do I get involved in TMA councils and committees? Are there resources for transitioning my practice?
For physicians coming to TexMed in Corpus Christi in April, answers to these and other questions about their TMA membership will be refreshingly easy to find at the Member Services Booth.
With knowledgeable TMA staff members at the ready, the Member Services Booth will be open on Friday, April 17, from 7 am to 6:30 pm and Saturday, April 18, from 7 am to 1:30 pm, in the Hilliard Center Corpus Christi at 1901 N. Shoreline Blvd.
“So many members don’t know all of the many member benefits and all of the services that TMA offers,” said Megan Kressin, MD, chair of TMA’s Council on Member Experience. “Having a booth like that front and center at TMA’s largest [annual] gathering is a way to inform our physicians of all the benefits available.”
In addition to the Knowledge Center and CME, she also points out that TMA has services for medical students, residents, and physicians at every career phase – including recently added ones that members might not know about.
“If you join as a med student, you’re going to have very different concerns or needs than when you are later in practice,” Dr. Kressin said. “There are things for practice owners, there are resources for employed physicians, and things that people might not even know to turn to TMA for.”
The Member Services Booth will be able to point members to those resources on the TMA website and connect them with association staff experts for additional help. The booth can also field logistical questions, like accessing their online accounts, recording CME, or figuring out how to find Texas Medicine Today in their email inboxes after signup.
Should members be inspired by organized medicine proceedings such as the House of Delegates, the booth can provide information on how to get more involved and self-nominate (or nominate others) for TMA’s Leadership College, councils, and committees through the online TMA leadership nomination form.
