For physicians and practice staff juggling compliance checklists, billing and coding questions, and other challenges unique to managing a practice, the Texas Medical Association’s reorganized resource hubs now expedite members’ search for vital practice management tools and information.
TMA’s refreshed Practice Management and Practice Services webpages are products of the association’s member-driven approach, using physician interests and feedback to best develop and present useful resources.
Those materials are now arranged into clear categories on their webpages, including, among others:
- Revenue cycle management,
- Health information technology, and
Both hubs include contact buttons that allow members to connect with the appropriate TMA staff or department, preventing unnecessary delays and providing faster solutions to practice management challenges.
As an independent physician, Odessa allergist and immunologist Vivek Rao, MD, says he often doesn’t have the resources or time necessary to keep up with the latest practice management news and information. That’s why the member of TMA’s Council on Legislation “greatly appreciates the effort TMA has put in trying to make its resources as available as possible to its membership.”
Rather than physicians digging through multiple layers of online information, the updated practice management webpage serves as a one stop shop for meeting a practice’s needs from member-benefit toolkits, articles, CME material, and more, the pages are helpful to physicians and staff across all settings and practice types. The newly redesigned resource page is part of TMA’s broader efforts to improve operational support for medical practices. Over the years, TMA has invited its members to join focus groups held during association conferences, including TexMed. These meetings encouraged physicians to share their experiences navigating TMA’s website and their recommendations on how the association can improve its online communication strategies.
Based on similar member input, TMA updated its Independent Physician Practice webpage earlier this year to help the page reflect the real-world needs of clinicians. TMA’s Committee on Independent Physician Practice worked directly with TMA staff to develop and implement these updates.
“This is an excellent example of how TMA is responsive to the needs and suggestions of its membership,” Dr. Rao said.
