By Tammy Wishard

Need help paying for your medical school education? The Texas Medical Association offers seven scholarships ranging from $500 to $10,000.

Criteria for the scholarships include gender, ethnicity, financial need, and more. Application requirements and dates vary by scholarship.

Since 1989, TMA has awarded more than 530 scholarships totaling more than $1.7 million.

“TMA continues to support the next generation of physicians,” said TMA President-Elect Gary Floyd, MD. “I’ve been doing student loan interviews for 18 years, and this is one way TMA continues to invest in the future of health care in Texas and help reduce the financial burden of medical education.”
