New Tools to Help Medicine Fight Prior Auth Hassles

Health plans continue to increase the number and frequency of prior authorizations, costing physicians and their patients time and money.

That’s why the Texas Medical Association continues to fight insurers’ onerous prior authorization requirements, particularly during the current legislative session.

But medicine needs your voice to help rein in those hassles for Texas physicians and patients.

TMA has created a prior auth social media toolkit that includes messages, sample posts, and articles that you can share on your personal or practice social media channels.

The kit also includes research and polling data that shows the extent of prior auth burdens on Texas physicians, with 87% of Texas physicians reporting an increase over the past five years, according to a 2020 TMA survey.

You’ll also find a list of prior auth bills making their way through the Capitol this year.

Find the prior auth toolkit in the “Advocacy Toolkits” section of the TMA website, and be sure to use the following hashtags in your posts: #PriorAuth, #PriorAuthorization, #FixPriorAuth, #HealthPlansArentPhysicians, #TMAadvocacy, and #txlege.
