Talking to parents about vaccines can be challenging, especially with the anti-vaccine movement, and the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a decline in childhood vaccinations across the country.

That’s why the Texas Medical Association has created a CME course to better prepare you for these conversations.

Talk to Your Patients About: Vaccine-Preventable Diseases is designed to help you understand the diseases vaccines prevent so you have better information when speaking with patients.

The course reminds you of the realities of the diseases, especially those you might have never treated, and helps you effectively explain the benefits of vaccination. It also provides infographics, in English and Spanish, to assist in talking about these diseases.

TMA’s ongoing Talk to Your Patients multimedia campaign also gives you tools, information, and resources to help you discuss vaccinations with patients. This series covers vaccine-preventable diseases and common vaccination myths

TMA also has stepped up efforts to help physicians get more engaged in vaccination outreach through Be Wise – ImmunizeSM. For more information about Be Wise, contact Tammy Wishard,  TMA outreach coordinator, at (512) 370-1470.

Be Wise – Immunize is funded in 2020 by the TMA Foundation, thanks to major support from H-E-B and Permian Basin Youth Chavarim.

Be Wise – Immunize is a service mark of the Texas Medical Association.
