Help Texas Improve Health Outcomes for New Mothers and Infants

Burgess

As a physician, you’ve seen first-hand some of the health challenges new mothers and their infants face, not only during pregnancy but in the days and months after birth.

But if you’re interested in learning more about those challenges, and best practices for preventing and caring for them, plan to attend the 2020 Texas Collaborative for Healthy Mothers and Babies (TCHMB) Summit in late February.

The goal of the summit is to provide health care professionals, hospitals, and advocates with information on issues and issues related to the health of mothers and babies, including maternal safety in Texas.

Topics to be covered by speakers, panel discussions, and breakout sessions include:

  • Recommendations for fourth-trimester care;
  • Sudden Unexpected Infant Death and how it relates to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome;
  • Neonatal resuscitation;
  • Innovation in care, including telemedicine;
  • Addressing health disparities in a hospital setting; and
  • Community solutions for postpartum depression.

TCHMB is made up of health professionals throughout Texas working to advance health care quality and patient safety for all Texas mothers and babies.

The summit is scheduled for Feb. 27 and 28 at the AT&T Executive Conference Center in Austin. More information, including to how register, is available on the collaborative’s website.

The Texas Medical Association is committed to improving the health and lives of Texas mothers. Find more information about maternal mortality and morbidity on the TMA website.
