Sample: Mayor's Proclamation/Commissioners Court Resolution

WHEREAS, Bicycle-related injuries send some 300,000 U.S. children to emergency rooms for treatment, and kill more than 250 children younger than 14 years annually, and  

WHEREAS, One in three Texas teens is overweight or obese; and

WHEREAS, Wearing a bicycle helmet can reduce the risk of brain injury by 85 percent, and bicycling provides safe, healthy exercise; and  

WHEREAS, ( The Lone Star County Medical Society) is joining the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association Foundation in the Hard Hats for Little Heads program, which is designed to promote exercise and the importance of wearing a helmet; and  

WHEREAS, ( The Lone Star County Medical Society) will give free helmets to local children under age 18 on June 8; therefore be it  

RESOLVED, That (Mayor Williams or Lone Star County Commissioners Court) does hereby support June 8 as Hard Hats for Little Heads Day in (Lone Star or Lone Star County) ; and be it further  

RESOLVED, That the (Mayor of Lone Star or Lone Star County Commissioners Court) encourages parents to bring children to receive free helmets and safety information, making a visible statement that we are com­mitted to keeping our children healthy and safe.
