Spotlight: TMA Women Physicians Section

September is Women in Medicine Month, honoring women physicians for their outstanding contributions and accomplishments in the field of medicine. This month, and every month, the Texas Medical Association salutes its female physician members for making a difference in the lives of their patients, their communities, and in organized medicine.

That’s why TMA promotes female equity and leadership through the TMA Women Physicians Section.

What is the Women Physicians Section?

The Women Physicians Section is one of six special interest sections at TMA that advocate on issues unique to their individual physician group and patient population. Sections do that by advancing TMA policy to shape the future of medicine and improve the health of all Texans.

TMA members who participate in the Women Physicians Section can make a difference by:

  • Participating in professional development that focuses on key issues for female physicians and their patients;
  • Gaining valuable leadership skills to help female physicians thrive in their careers;
  • Networking with peers to create a community of allies for female physicians in organized medicine; and
  • Creating meaningful TMA policy that positively impacts the health care system for all women.

How can you get involved?

The TMA Women Physicians Section is open to all TMA member-physicians and residents. You can participate by opting into the section or attending a section business meeting at the next TMA conference.
