Have you or your practice been considering connecting your electronic health record (EHR) to a health information exchange (HIE), but keep getting hung up by the cost?
Well, here’s some good news.
Three public HIEs recently were awarded contracts for a Medicaid grant that could pay for you to connect to their exchanges.
The grant reimburses the HIEs for connection fees up to $10,000 per physician or $30,000 per practice (essentially you wouldn’t pay the connection fees), but you would be required to keep the connection for 12 months.
To be eligible:
- At least 10% of your practice must be comprised of Medicaid patients; and
- You must have participated in the Medicaid or Medicare Meaningful Use Program or the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System’s (MIPS) Promoting Interoperability programs under Medicare’s Quality Payment Program.
If you are interested, you should first reach out to the HIE to express your interest, confirm eligibility, and get any questions answered.
