Health Information Technology – Cyber Security: Recognizing that cyber crimes, such as use of ransomware and malware, are a threat to patient care and to physician practice operations, the Texas Medical Association supports education, policies, and tools that help physicians protect patient health information and electronic resources. Further, TMA supports HIPAA privacy and security education, policies, and tools that help physicians maintain HIPAA policies and procedures, including cyber security precautions, to reduce the risk of attacks and other unauthorized access against a computer system and the information it contains.
