Introducing TMAF Gala Co-Chairs!

TMA Foundation is pleased to announce Clifford Moy, MD, and his wife, Diane; and Carla Ortique, MD, and her husband, the Honorable Morris Overstreet, all of Houston, as co-chairs of its 29th annual gala, Cultural Crossroads – Houston: The Most Diverse City in the U.S.

Dr. Moy, a psychiatrist, is treasurer of TMAF and chair of its Finance Committee. He also serves on the TEXPAC Board of Directors and is a former speaker of the TMA House of Delegates. He is the behavioral health medical director at TMF Health Quality Institute, based in Austin, and serves on the advisory committee for Inner City Catholic Schools in Houston.

Ms. Moy is a longtime active member of the TMA Alliance (TMAA) and serves on its Membership Committee and as the TMAA representative to the TMA Committee on Infectious Disease. Along with her husband, she is an active member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Houston.

Dr. Ortique is an obstetrician-gynecologist and vice president of the TMA Foundation Board of Trustees. She has held numerous health care leadership positions at national and state levels, and within TMA in areas related to women’s health care and elimination of racial and ethnic health care disparities. She is a member of the TMA Council on Science and Public Health and a past chair of the TMA Committee on Reproductive, Women’s, and Perinatal Health. Dr. Ortique also is vice president of the board of Every Body Texas (formerly Women’s Health and Family Planning Association Texas).

Judge Overstreet is a lifelong Texan and a highly respected criminal defense attorney. His career includes terms as first assistant district attorney of the 47th Judicial District; judge, Potter County Court at Law No. 1; and distinguished professor of law, Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston. Following an initial gubernatorial appointment, Judge Overstreet was elected to the Texas State Court of Criminal Appeals, becoming the first African American elected to a statewide office since Reconstruction.
