Created and endorsed by TMA, the Texas Medical Association Insurance Trust (TMAIT) helps physicians, their families, and their employees get the insurance coverage and retirement planning they need.
The TMA Insurance Trust has been exclusively serving TMA members since 1955. Because it was created and is endorsed by TMA, the trust is committed to serving Texas physicians for the long term and understands the unique needs of physicians and their medical practices.
The TMA Insurance Trust offers a wide range of insurance plans for individual physicians and medical groups, including medical, life, long-term disability, short-term disability, long-term care, dental, vision, key person life insurance, key person disability insurance, and business overhead coverage. The trust can provide voluntary insurance plans (plans where employees opt in and pay 100 percent of the premium) such as dental and vision insurance.
The TMA Insurance Trust works with each group medical practice to design a program that meets its unique needs. James Prescott, TMAIT Associate Administrator, says there are many things a practice owner must consider when putting together an insurance benefits package for his or her employees. Many factors affect costs, including deductibles, copays, prescription drug coverage, waiting periods, and whether or not the practice owner is paying 100 percent of the premiums, or asking employees to contribute a percentage.
