DSHS Offers Newborn Screening Requirement Guidance - 05/01/2014

The College of American Pathologists (CAP) issued a new specimen tracking requirement for CAP-accredited laboratories that submit newborn screening specimens to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) laboratory for testing. Phase I of the requirement applies to specimens submitted to a remote testing laboratory for screening of congenital disorders in newborns.
