TMAF Family of Funds

Established in 2017, the Family of Funds serves as the umbrella for TMAF funds and endowments that support the charitable health improvement and education goals of TMA and TMAA members and the related efforts of TMA county medical societies and TMA alliance and medical student chapters.

Funds and endowments eligible to be part of this program are subject to the approval of the TMA Foundation Board of Trustees in accordance with TMAF policies, procedures and legal considerations. TMAF Medical Student Scholarship and Grant Trust Fund of
Dr. Roberto J. and Agniela (Annie) M. Bayardo

The purpose of this fund is to provide a) scholarships to individuals accepted to or attending a Texas medical school; and b) financial grant support to Texas medical student-led health improvement and education initiatives through the TMAF Medical Student Community Leadership Grant Program. 

  • Medical Student Scholarship Grants: TMA county medical societies and alliance chapters that have a medical student scholarship program may apply for one* scholarship grant that  matches the amount of a scholarship provided by the society or alliance chapter, not to exceed $5,000.
    Application opens Jan 15; Deadline Feb 28
        
  • TMAF Medical Student Community Leadership Grant Program: An annual allocation from this Fund will be determined by TMAF. Such allocation will support TMAF Board of Trustees approved grant requests received through its Medical Student Community Leadership Grant Program
    Application opens in June; Deadlines July 31 and Nov 15

 TMAF Radha, Naren & Hitaine Endowment for Medical Student Scholarships by Shakuntala and Mahendra Patel, MD

This endowment supports scholarships to Texas medical school students with the following recipient criteria: the scholarship will be awarded to a Texas medical school student entering the second, third or fourth year of medical school, is determined by the recipient’s Texas medical school to need financial aid; self-identifies of Hispanic, Asian, or Black descent and describes, through the required essay, an aspiration to serve low-income Texans. This scholarship currently is administered through the Lubbock County Medical Society and its medical student scholarship program in concert with Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in Lubbock.
