Tips for searching TMA Policy Compendium

Wildcard Searches

To perform a multiple character wildcard search use the "*" symbol.

For example, to search for vaccinate, vaccinations, or vaccinator, you can use the search:

vacc*

DOUBLE QUOTES

Using DOUBLE QUOTES around a group of words will match documents where the exact words exist anywhere in the text of a single document.

To search for documents that contain "substance abuse" use the query:

"substance abuse"

AND

The AND operator matches documents where both terms exist anywhere in the text of a single document.

To search for documents that contain "substance abuse" and "youth" use the query:

"substance abuse" AND "youth"

NOT

The NOT operator excludes documents that contain the term after NOT.

To search for documents that contain "Medicaid" but not "payments" or “reimbursement” use the query:

"Medicaid" NOT "payments" NOT “reimbursement”
