QPP: Last day to submit data for the 2018 Quality Payment Program: Merit-Based Incentive Payment System and advanced alternative payment models
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed the Quality Payment Program (QPP) to implement the two payment tracks required by the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA). The two tracks are the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and advanced alternative payment models (APMs). The QPP is an annual reporting program that affects Medicare payment two years later. The second QPP performance year was Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2018. Eligible physicians and clinicians who are required to participate in the 2018 QPP must report data to CMS by April 2.

Participation in the 2018 QPP affects Medicare payment in 2020. Eligible physicians and clinicians who are required to participate in the 2018 QPP must report data to CMS by April 2 to avoid a 5-percent pay cut to their 2020 Medicare physician fee schedule payments.
