Reporting for Round 1 of Provider Relief Fund Starts Thursday
By Joey Berlin

If you received more than $10,000 from the first round of Provider Relief Fund (PRF) distributions after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, today is your last day to spend any of those funds.

Starting Thursday, you’ll have 90 days to complete your required reporting of your Period 1 PRF grant, and repay any portion you haven’t used. However, recipients of later PRF grants won’t see their reporting period begin until 2022.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) revised its Post-Payment Notice of Reporting Requirements earlier this month. Recipients of more than $10,000 in Period 1 – between April 10, 2020, and June 30, 2020 – will have from this Thursday until Sept. 30, 2021, to submit their required reports to the PRF Reporting Portal, which opens on Thursday for recipients to start submitting their information. You’ll be able to return unused funds through the portal once the first reporting period begins, according to an HHS Frequently Asked Questions document on the PRF.

Only recipients of more than $10,000 in aggregated PRF payments during a payment period must report, HHS says. For those who received more than $10,000 in other payment periods, the reporting periods will be as follows:

  • Period 2 (payment received between July 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2020): Must report between Jan. 1, 2022, and March 31, 2022
  • Period 3 (payment received between Jan. 1, 2021, and June 30, 2021): Must report between July 1, 2022, and Sept. 30, 2022
  • Period 4 (payment received between July 1, 2021, and Dec. 31, 2021): Must report between Jan. 1, 2023, and March 31, 2023

HHS recommends that recipients register in the PRF portal before their reporting period begins.
