Here are some highlights of past programs and activities provided by county medical societies (CMSs) to members through the Women Physicians Section (WPS) May Owen, MD, Outreach Program grant.
Potter-Randall CMS

Seventeen Potter-Randall County Medical Society physicians gathered at a physician’s home on Saturday, April 20, to meet and network with other women physicians in Amarillo as well as enjoy refreshments and tea. “This was a wonderful way to meet other women physicians in our local county medical society,” organizer, Nicole Lopez, MD, said. “We have not had a WPS section in many years, and this event provided a great opportunity to meet some of the outstanding female physicians in Amarillo. Attendees represented many different specialties in medicine … and ranged from resident to retired physicians. Feedback was very positive to continue to meet as a group on a regular basis.”
Burnet-Lampasas-Llano CMS

Physicians from Burnet, Llano, and Lampasas counties gathered for the first women physicians’ event in over 15 years. The evening featured a lively cooking demonstration by local VIP chef Ginger Sprouse, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Attendees appreciated the chance to connect faces with familiar names and voices and expressed gratitude to TMA and WPS for creating a meaningful space to network and strengthen professional relationships.
Jefferson CMS

Women physicians from the Grayson County Medical Society came together for an evening of connection, conversation, and community. The gathering featured a dinner followed by an engaging presentation from Jennifer Taylor, cookbook author and owner of Old Quail Run Farm, who demonstrated how to craft an elegant cheese and charcuterie board. Throughout the evening, attendees shared laughter, stories, and experiences from both their personal and professional lives, fostering meaningful connections. Grayson CMS extends thanks to the May Owen, MD, Outreach Program for its generous support, which made this inaugural Women in Medicine event possible.
