Fingerprinting Services to Be Offered at TexMed

Because many Texas physicians now are required to provide fingerprints to renew their medical licenses, the Texas Medical Association has contracted with Idemia to make these services available onsite at TexMed 2024 for registered conference attendees.

The service will be available on site by appointment only, Thursday, May 2, starting at 10 am, through Saturday, May 4, ending at 2 pm. Space is limited. Save your spot today by registering for TexMed if you haven’t already, and by following these steps:

What do you need to do?

A 6-digit ID number issued by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) is required for submitting your fingerprints. This 6-digit ID number is assigned at the time of application submission and will be included in your postcard and email renewal reminders.

  • If you are within your license renewal period and have received your postcard and email license renewal reminder, reserve your spot for the Mobile Print Event at TexMed. Pre-enroll here.
  • If your license renewal is not currently due but you wish to submit your fingerprints early, please contact TMB at and request your code and instructions for your fingerprint submission. It may take up to five days to receive your code.
  • Once you receive your code you may reserve your spot for the Mobile Print Event at TexMed 2024. Pre-enroll here.
  • Please be prepared to pay $40.75 for the service. This is the fee cited on the TMB’s website FAQ as including the fingerprint vendor processing fee, the Department of Public Safety processing fee and the FBI processing fee. TMA is covering the additional costs to bring the service onsite to TexMed. A credit card transaction fee may apply.
  • You must present a valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or passport) at the time of your fingerprint appointment.

Why do you need to get fingerprinted?

Texas physicians now are required to provide TMB with fingerprints to renew their license, unless you were fingerprinted for your physician license application after Jan. 15, 2018. This is a one-time requirement. Fingerprints will not be required until license renewal but can be done at any time. Reminders of the fingerprint requirement will be included in the renewal notice sent out 90 days prior to your current license expiration date

TMB encourages physicians to begin the fingerprinting process early to avoid last-minute hassles during your license renewal.

And if you haven’t already, be sure to register for TexMed
