Specialty: Obstetrics and Gynecology
City: Austin
County Medical Society: Travis CMS

What do you like most about your specialty?
I love supporting women through every stage of life—from adolescence and birth control to pregnancy and menopause. In my 27 years as an OB-GYN, I’ve had the privilege of caring for some patients from high school through menopause. The diversity of women’s health is what makes it so rewarding. Women are incredible patients, and witnessing the miracle of birth never ceases to amaze me!
Why do you think WPS is an important?
Women physicians bring much value to the field of medicine, and it goes far beyond our empathy skills.
Women make up more than 50% of new physicians but are not well represented in physician leadership. You can see change is coming based on the recent predominance of women graduates from TMA’s Leadership College. I think WPS is a strong partner in our progress toward full professional equality.
What benefits do you get from TMA’s WPS?
Fellowship, camaraderie, and tactical strategies to improve Texas medicine are all benefits I’ve gained from WPS. Meeting new friends and collaborators is what I cherish the most.
Current and previous leadership roles withing TMA and affiliated organizations.
I currently serve on the TMA Committee for Medicaid, CHIP and the Uninsured. At Travis County Medical Society (TCMS), I am a TMA alternate delegate, and the immediate past chair of the TCMS Medical Legislation Committee. I am also honored to have been elected to the TCMS Board of Trustees in January 2025.
What is your favorite pastime or hobby?
I have been a bird nerd since college. Birds are environmental ambassadors and are a constant source of joy. I never get tired of observing their behavior. I think I could have been very happy as an ornithologist. Audubon, Merlin, and Ebirder, are organizations and websites I’m involved in.

Do you have a favorite quote or personal motto?
Stay and fight.
