What benefits have you derived from your membership in the section?
Good networking connections; feeling like I'm not alone in trying to provide for my patients.
Is there a cause, activity, or organization you're involved in that you would like to mention?
TransFORWARD in the Texas Health Initiative. Delegate for the Texas Academy of Family Physicians LGBTQ Section.
What do you like most about your specialty?
I like doing a little bit of everything. So far today, I've rounded on a post partum mom and baby, arranged hospice care for a patient, arranged an in-patient's husband's care, seen a teenager of mine just diagnosed with DM 1 and adjusted his insulin, pronounced a patient and listened to another's fears about their positive HIV test. Like I said...a little bit of everything. This is the practice of medicine I always dreamed of...being The Family Doc.
What is your favorite pastime or hobby?
I love baseball. I try to attend a Texas Tech game every year and multiple MLB games. I'll plan my vacations around when I can squeeze another game in at a new stadium. Currently I have 13 stadiums down and 17 more to go!
