Save the Date for 2023 TMAF Gala: The Art of Medicine

For Melanie Lagomichos, a Fort Worth OB-Gyn hospitalist, this Fred Rogers quote best articulates why she and her husband are helping to lead the 2023 TMA Foundation gala and support initiatives that amplify TMA's vision to improve the health of all Texans:

“All of us, at some time or other, need help. Whether we’re giving or receiving help, each one of us has something valuable to bring to this world. That’s one of the things that connects us as neighbors – in our own way, each one of us is a giver and a receiver.”

Recognizing Fort Worth for its vibrant art scene and honoring physicians for treating each patient individually and with care, the Texas Medical Association Foundation’s 30th annual gala will celebrate the Art of Medicine on Friday, May 19, 2023, during TMA’s annual TexMed meeting at the Omni Fort Worth.

Save the date now for the event, where you can see friends and colleagues, enjoy the bright décor, and dress in “artistic” cocktail attire. Your ticket purchase or table sponsorship helps TMAF fund a wide range of programs to support this vision, including those that help reduce health care disparities, as well as community grants that serve Texans most impacted by these factors.

G. Sealy Massingill, MD, and his wife, Debbie; and Dr. Lagomichos and her husband, Thomas Vanelli, all of Fort Worth, will co-chair the event.

“Please join us in support of this worthwhile and fun event, which raises funds for programs that TMA and TMA Alliance members make possible in communities around the state – not to mention it will be the best time you’ll have at TexMed,” said Dr. Massingill, a past Tarrant County Medical Society and TMAF president. Mrs. Massingill is active in the TMA Alliance, serving as its TMA Hard Hats for Little Heads chair for four years. The Massingills have supported TMA Foundation since 1996.

Already this year, TMAF has supported numerous initiatives around the state that provide free health screenings to medically disadvantaged Texans, vaccinate underserved individuals, educate students with science-based learning materials, and more.

Institution and company gala table sponsorships ranging from $3,500 to $50,000 are now available. Individuals may sponsor a table starting at $2,750.

H-E-B is leading the growing list of 30th annual Gala sponsors as a $30,000 Picasso Sponsor in 2023. H-E-B first sponsored TMA Foundation’s annual gala in 2003 and has since sponsored every year since 2006. In addition to the annual gala, H-E-B also annually supports TMA’s Vaccines Defend What Matters and Diversity in Medicine Scholarship (formerly Minority Scholarship Program). Longtime board member and major donor Craig Norman, RPh, a pharmacist and senior vice president for H-E-B, serves as Executive Committee member-at-large for TMA Foundation.
