If you’d like to lend medical services to people from Louisiana affected by Hurricane Ida, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has released information on how Texas physicians can help Louisiana Medicaid recipients.

To do so, you’ll need to enroll in Louisiana Medicaid, HHSC Chief Medical Director Ryan Van Ramshorst, MD, said in a release. Fee-for-service enrollment information can be found on the Louisiana Medicaid website. Enrollment for managed care should be completed directly with the managed care organization. The Louisiana Department of Health has created a frequently asked questions document with more information.

Texas practitioners who serve Louisiana Medicaid recipients will be paid by Louisiana Medicaid or one of its managed care organizations, not by Texas Medicaid, and covered services will be paid according to Louisiana Medicaid payment rates.

HHSC says Louisiana Medicaid isn’t currently aware of any hospital patient evacuations or transfers from Louisiana to Texas. If you learn of any such evacuations, HHSC asks that you email Dr. Van Ramshorst and copy Gary Young

More information is available on the Louisiana Department of Health Provider & Plan Resources page.
