Joseph S. Valenti, MD, a board-certified gynecologist from Denton, was reelected to serve a second term on the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Board of Trustees, the association’s governing body. TMA’s House of Delegates policymaking body announced elections today during TexMed, TMA’s annual conference, conducted virtually this year.

“We are faced with a future that we must walk together with our patients,” said Dr. Valenti. “We are their stewards, and they are our partners, and we can succeed only if we are kept always vigilant of that fact. Required of us is leadership, dedication, honesty, and an unwavering belief that we can never give up the ability to do what is in the physician and patient’s best interest.”

Throughout his 23 years as a TMA member, Dr. Valenti has held several leadership positions in the association – as chair of the Council on Socioeconomics; Council on Constitution and Bylaws; Maternal and Perinatal Health Committee; and Young Physician Section.

Dr. Valenti is a member and past president of the Denton County Medical Society and represents the society in TMA’s House of Delegates. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of The Physicians Foundation, and Lone Star Alliance.

Dr. Valenti received his medical degree from State University of New York Buffalo School of Medicine. He completed his obstetrics-gynecology residency at Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.

Dr. Valenti founded Caring for Women, PA, in Denton, where he has served patients for 22 years. He also was chief of staff of North Texas Hospital, a physician-owned facility.

TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation, representing more than 55,000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMA's key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
