Join Discussion on Treating Opioid Addiction

You’re no doubt aware of the opioid epidemic that is gripping Texas as well as the U.S. And you’re no doubt concerned about how the crisis is affecting patients and public health as a whole in and around Corpus Christi.

To help you gain a better understanding of opioids, the Nueces County Medical Society (NCMS) Alliance is hosting a symposium on addiction, prevention, treatment, and recovery later this month.

Scheduled speakers include:

  • Carlos F. Tirado, MD, clinical associate professor at UT Austin Dell Medical School and president of the Texas Society of Addiction Medicine;
  • Mark Kinzly, co-founder of the Texas Overdose Naloxone Initiative and a member of the national Harm Reduction Coalition’s board of directors; and
  • Susán Hoemke, mother, speaker, and author of Healing Scarred Hearts.

The event will also feature a panel discussion with physicians and executive directors of several health and addiction-related organizations.

The symposium will be held on Thursday, Nov. 21 at the following times and locations:

  • 10 am: Veteran’s Memorial High School, 3750 Cimarron Blvd.
  • 7 pm: Church Unlimited, 3402 Rodd Field Road.
