280.028 Imaging Screening in Asymptomatic Populations

Imaging Screening in Asymptomatic Populations: The Texas Medical Association does not recommend the use of imaging screening as a substitute for current health care practice. TMA recommends that once a physician agrees to perform imaging screening tests, a patient-physician relationship with all the obligations such a relationship entails and in the absence of a referring physician who orders the test, the testing physician assumes responsibility for relevant clinical evaluation, as well as pre-test and post-test counseling concerning the test, its results, and indicated follow up (CSA Rep. 4-A-03; amended CSPH Rep. 1-A-15).
