Educating and Training Physicians in Texas: The Texas Medical Association supports efforts by Texas medical schools to (1) adopt innovative measures to educate and train physicians in a shorter period of time, while ensuring high-quality medical education and in keeping with national accreditation standards and (2) facilitate concomitant growth in graduate medical education positions in relation to medical school enrollments to allow for the retention of Texas medical school graduates in the state for residency training and to encourage their subsequent entry into the state's physician workforce (CME Rep. 2-A-12).
