To recognize outstanding science educators and ensure students have the learning tools they need, Dr. Ernest and Mrs. Sarah Butler of Austin boosted their already generous support with a $500,000 donation to TMA Foundation which will help fund TMA’s Ernest and Sarah Butler Awards for Excellence in Science Teaching.
The Butler’s gift becomes part of an endowment the couple established in 1998 to support TMA’s Science Teacher Award program, which annually recognizes an elementary, middle and high school teacher for highly effective methods of engaging students in the sciences. The addition of their generous contribution brings their endowment to more than $1M. In recognition of their longtime generosity and vision, the program was named after the Butlers.
