Scholarship Open for Students Committed to Medically Underserved

The Lone Star Caucus (LSC) Scholarship now is accepting applications from third- and fourth-year medical students attending any Texas medical school. This annual opportunity is open to student members of county medical societies within the Lone Star Caucus, which comprises nonmetro, smaller county medical societies.

Apply now through March 29 through the Lone Star Caucus website. For more information, email the caucus.

The scholarship is awarded to students with outstanding academic achievements, strong leadership skills, and a passion for serving medically underserved populations in Texas.

“These scholarships for medical students from the Lone Star Caucus counties help ensure continued access to medical care for underserved Texans,” said LSC Scholarship/Awards Chair Nefertiti duPont, MD, of Shenandoah. “The caucus encourages future physicians to return home and practice locally.”

The scholarship is supported by contributions from physician members of the Lone Star Caucus. TMA’s Office of Trust Fund Administration manages donation collection via a 501(c)(3) charitable fund.

Donations can be made online (login required) or by sending a check to the Lone Star Caucus Scholarship, c/o TMA Finance Department, 401 W. 15th St., Ste. 100, Austin, TX 78701-1680.
