Medicare began making 2008 incentive payments to
physicians participating in the
Physician
Quality Reporting Initiative
(PQRI) on Oct. 12. The physicians also will begin receiving
feedback reports this month, the Centers for Medicare &
Medicaid Services says.
The American Medical Association reports that
modifications to the PQRI's analytics and algorithms necessitated
by problems with 2007 PQRI claims processing means physicians first
identified as unsuccessful participants may receive a 2007
incentive payment, known as a "re-run payment," in November and a
revised 2007 feedback report in October.
The
Individuals Authorized Access to the CMS Computer
Services
(IACS) will distribute feedback reports to group practices.
Physician practices must have an approved Medicare enrollment
application to register for IACS. For questions about IACS
registration, e-mail the IACS registration help desk at
EUSSupport[at]cgi[dot]com
, or call (866)484-8049.
AMA says Medicare officials have indicated they will have an
alternative process for individual feedback reports, possibly tied
to secure e-mail access. The officials will explain the process in
a conference call at 1:30 pm on Oct. 15. Register at
www.eventsvc.com/palmettogba/101509
to participate.
